It is often overlooked to care for candles, but they need tender love too! Maintaining your premium candles help prolong their shelf and burn life which means they will last longer in your space. Overtime, dust can settle into vessels, and waxes can harden if past their expiration date. This can be managed with a few materials and by following the tips below:
1. Keep a microfiber cloth handy to gently remove dust and debris from the top of your candles. This will ensure the vessel and wax remain clean when lit. Be sure to wipe regularly, including the outside of the vessel to keep your candle looking sharp.
2. After purchasing your candles, it is best to burn them within 3-6 months, particularly those with natural waxes (e.g., soy, coconut, and beeswax) and fragrances (e.g., essential oils). This is because such ingredients will lose its properties or degrade if they sit out for too long of a period, including the strength of the scent. Enjoy your premium candles without putting it off and spoil yourself!
3. Be sure to trim your candle wicks with a wick trimmer before every light. It is suggested that you remove at least a quarter inch for most candles, but this depends on the type of candle wick, size, and vessel. We like to encourage removing all burnt areas of the wick to prevent smoking and soot spreading. .5 cm of wick ready to be lit works well with our unique coconut and soy blend. Don't forget to clean your tools regularly by wiping them gently with a soft cloth.
